A Family Run Business

Meet The Team

Ben

Ben

Managing Director

I brewed my first batch of beer at the age of 15 and loved it so much! My passion for homebrew led me to set up KegThat!

I work as a full-stack software developer during the day and manage kegthat on evenings and weekends.

I have also set up a company helping small businesses with website development and digital marketing.

My son twisted my arm to start homebrewing and his infectious enthusiasm has rubbed off on the whole team. I install substations in the day and come home to pack parcels and make wort chillers.

I was a customer of KegThat and after meeting Ben a few times he asked could he bring the family around to see my micro distillery setup. After a few entertaining evenings sampling spirits, throwing ideas and recommendation’s at them, they asked me and my partner to join the business and bring our enthusiasm on distilling to strengthen the spirit side.

I work in the day for a lovely family run Healthcare company as an IT Manager and know how important the customer is and the service we provide.

History of KegThat

We live on the Wirral in a small village called Willaston and operate out of out of our unit in Hooton, Ellesmere Port. We started our home brewing hobby back in 2016 when we made our first kit. We loved the beer we had made and we were quickly hooked and began to make regular batches and soon moved on to the all-grain home brewing.

We bought in our home brewing equipment, Malts, Hops, and Yeast, and began to get better and better. As part of our equipment, we purchased a wort chiller from eBay. We looked at the wort chiller and realized we could apply our skills to make these very easily. Although the first wort chiller was a pathetic attempt, we soon perfected a technique. We began to sell these on eBay and Amazon.

After engaging with various Facebook groups trying to sell our wort chillers, we had some success. We joked about having a fully operational homebrew supplies website..

Back in February 2020, we purchased a pallet of Cornelius kegs and other tap equipment and that was the start of our website and brand KegThat. We have been growing the stock by the week, now dealing with plenty of suppliers and manufacturers in the UK.

We are now a fully stocked home brew supplies website stocking high quality home brew equipment, home brew beer kits and ingredients. We still operate out of our unit based on the Wirral.

We hope to see you online and in-person!
